Community Collage

If you're reading this, it means you're interested in this project, am I right? Well, let me explain it then!

The Community Collage is a collaborative project ran on NightCafé in which we create an image together. It's a vague definition, I know, just let me finish.

​

I'm sure you know what a mosaic is. Well, in this project, were basically making mosaics together. An image gets chosen (sometimes by the community, other times by me), and all together, we create it with smaller images (which we call "Pixels"). Once we have enough pixels, we put them together to form an image over the "base image" (the base image is the image we are trying to represent).

There's usually a lot of confusion with the rules, so I'll post them here too:

​

  1. Images MUST be in a 1:1 format.

  2. Please, avoid adding too many details - keep it relatively simple! I'm not asking you to create an absolutely minimalist image, just to avoid overcharging it. More details, in the case of the base image, means I have to use a bigger canvas, and in the case of the pixels, usually add more colours to the image, making it more difficult to fit it. Also, note that details are usually lost during the process, so if you really like that picture, people won't be able to appreciate it as much as you'd like.

  3. No borders please!

  4. In the case of the pixels, keep them as monochrome as possible, please (less than 5 colours).

  • Where can I join?
    The link to the chat where you can submit your images is https://nightcafe.art/studio?join=ZLQA5?ru=aia
  • What is the base image?
    The base image is the image we're recreating. There's usually a challenge to choose it; if so, the challenge name will contain "Base Image".
  • What is a pixel?
    Pixels are the small images with which we recreate the base image. Think of them as the tiles to form a mosaic. If the challenge name does NOT have "Base image", it means it's a pixel challenge.
